16 Days of Action to Eliminate Violence Against Women

I collaborated with refugee women from North Glasgow and a jeweller in creative sessions exploring jewellery making in the creation of ‘personal narrative’ jewellery that explored the 16 Days theme of ‘how military violence effects women from around the world’.  The project resulted in a series of photographic prints that were exhibited at the showcase event at the Red Road Community Studio and was acquired by Glasgow Museums in 2016.

Precious Metal: Weapon Necklace. Military conflict forces people to leave their homes; possessions and many loved ones behind. This necklace was intended to represent how many women carry the weight of conflict around their necks, wherever they go, trying to find peace.
